Restricted Area Trekkers — Annual Trend 2013–2025
Trekkers who obtained a Restricted Area Permit (RAP) to enter Nepal's protected remote zones — such as Manaslu Circuit, Upper Mustang, and Nar Phu Valley. These areas require a special government permit, a licensed guide, and fees of $500–$1000+/week. Notable dips reflect the 2015 earthquake and 2020–21 COVID-19 border closures.

District boundary polygons were simplified using the Douglas-Peucker algorithm (tolerance = 0.01°) to reduce vertex count and ensure lightweight, performant web rendering. Validity checks performed in QGIS prior to GeoJSON export. Data sources: Department of Tourism (DoT) 2025, National Population and Housing Census (NPHC) 2021.
